TPS, 1+1 board protection, board level protection, and port protection.

Creating a Board-Level Protection Group for Data Service Boards

For Ethernet boards, you can create a board-level protection group to provide 1+1 protection for the peripheral data equipment. When a fault occurs on the data equipment that is connected to the working board, the protection board selectively receives the services.

Prerequisites

1 You must be an NM user with NE operator authority or higher.

2 The Ethernet boards must be installed in pairs. There must be no services on the protection board.

3 The same EMS4 or EGS4 board cannot be configured with BPS and PPS simultaneously.

4 The available bandwidth of the protection board is higher than or equal to the available

bandwidth of the working board. In addition, the interface boards must be of the same type

and quantity.

5 Before configuring the BPS for the Huawei SDH EMS4 board, you must set the working mode of the

corresponding interface board such as N1ETF8/N1EFF8 to 100M full-duplex.

Context

When the following prerequisites are met, the protection group can switch automatically.

1 The equipment that is interconnected with the protection group has the same working mode as that of the protection group.

2 The transmit end and the receive end should be connected directly through optical fibers

or network cables. There should be no equipment between the two ends.

3 The working mode at the receive end should not be modified before the protection group

is deleted. Otherwise, the protection group works abnormally.

The steps:

Step 1 In the NE Explorer, select an NE and choose Configuration > Board-Level Protection from

the Function Tree.

Step 2 Click New and the Create Board-Level Protection Group dialog box is displayed. Select the Working Board and the Protection Board, and set Protection Group ID and BPS Protection Mode.

Step 3 Click OK. A prompt dialog box is displayed, indicating that the operation is successful. Click Close.
